After three months of talking with anyone and everyone about Noteworthy Meetings, I took a long time over this holiday season to think about what I was really trying to do. As I mentioned, when I asked people about “meeting facilitation” I would often get this deer-in-the-headlights look and was told they get it, but couldn’t justify “meeting management” costs to their bosses.
So I took a step back and with the help of friends, family, and mentors, reworked what this venture is. I realized I was focused too much on the “event” (the meeting) that I was trying to make more productive vs. the full picture. As soon as I started pitching “project facilitation” for busy teams who need to get stuff done but want to offload the logistics, the light bulb went off in nearly everyone’s heads. Of course, the meetings aren’t going away, that’s my hook into companies. “Hey, are your meetings a nightmare?” The answer will most likely be ‘One-hundred-percent!’. “OK, great, let us start managing your meetings, the hub of where decisions are made, and we’ll go from there.” Boom, hooked.
What’s in a name…
Because I’m not solely focusing on meetings anymore, the name “Noteworthy Meetings” doesn’t really apply. It’s so much bigger than that. I wanted the name to reflect the “why” behind this company – to empower women (for now, eventually everyone) to have more control of their careers and in turn, their lives. That along with the fact that I needed to file some legal paperwork ASAP, I settled on (and love) Prowess Project. Prowess meaning “skill or expertise in a particular activity or field” and Project because this is going to be ongoing.
Side note – the second definition for Prowess is “bravery in battle” which also applies. We got this, ladies – smell ya later, wage gap, career OR kids, only 5% of CSuite are female, etc.
Building my tribe
Good news, we’re makin’ moves. I am hard at work building a tribe of stay-at-home moms who want to be my soundboard to help steer the company. We’re developing the certification and hiring process. Have someone in mind that may be interested? Please have them contact us.
No shortage of work, but I couldn’t do it without the support from all of you!
Until next time!
Ashley
